Daily Morning Routine Sample:
(October 18, 1995)
Here's a summary of what I did this morning for instance:
- got up at 6:30, slept for another 15 minutes
- went to the washroom across the hall (the first one there since the
lights turn on for me by motion sensor)
- grab my towels and soap from my room and head downstairs
- enter the bathroom for the entire building, dump my slippers and
go barefoot, and after dumping my clothes on a shelf enter the washing
area through a sliding door
- use one of the few showers instead of the many stool/bucket positions (the
tap is even one of those temperature ones so I don't have to fiddle with
cold and hot taps)
- dry myself off outside (I don't bother with the hot bath since it would
take too long) while a few more people trickle in (most people take
showers at night)
- head back to my room (everybody wears sweat pants and a t-shirt to the
bathroom it seems, while I enjoy wearing my pajamas and a bathrobe {which
one girl called a kimono :) })
- dry my hair and rest for another 15 minutes (I'm still exhausted from
yesterday)
- turn on the TV (at 7:30 Uresei Yatsura {Lum} is on) and continue to
clean up, shave, etc.
- I still have some bread and orange juice from yesterday, so I eat in
my room instead of partaking of the standard everyday breakfast of a
hard-boiled egg, 2 rolls, a small shredded salad, and tea (which I'm sure
will really get tiring soon)
- UY ends at 8:00 and Cha-cha begins (Little Red Hood Cha-cha is a
good translation of the full title)
- finish getting dressed and getting my tie on (I'm wearing a tie for now,
but I might stop later on in the year)
- leave about 8:15-8:20
- walk downstairs, exchange my shoes, and sneak through the front
gate with everyone else (1 minutes away from the front door) since
I don't have my ID card yet still
- get to the Research & Development building, change my shoes again,
and arrive at my desk
- few people are here still, since most people arrive later and work late
from flex time (I'm on fixed time from 8:30-5:10)
- and now I'm answering e-mail before starting work...
